Chrom... More Than a Label
Chrom Recordings is an electronic music label with roots in Austria & Belgium, founded in 2017 in Ibiza by Mike Chrom (creator & owner of Planet Ibiza, I am Boho, NEO 2.0, Eivissa Beach Cafe,…) and DJ/Producer Pedro Mercado (MUKKE, ICONYC, Parquet, Kling Klong, Krafted, Tanzgemeinschaft, Frequenza, Particles, Proton, Awen, Bonzai, Deeperfect, Go Deeva, La Factoria, Natura Viva, Dear Deer, Beatfreak, Manual,... ), focused on Progressive House, Indie Dance, Melodic House & Techno.
Both label founders have together more than 40 years of experience in the global electronic music scene and during the Ibiza summer of 2016 they came up with the idea to finally also start their own label according to their common musical philosophy. So Chrom Recordings was born to build a quality platform & home base for like-minded passionate artists from all over the world who fit the Ibiza Spirit of the label. Both new promising talents ànd established known artists from all over the world with the same music taste are more than welcome to the label
The name & logo of “Chrom” with the circle around the “Om” is inspired by several elements:
– “Chrome or Chromium is a chemical element with symbol Cr and atomic number 24. It is the first element in Group 6. It is a steely-grey, lustrous, hard and brittle metal which takes a high polish, resists tarnishing, and has a high melting point. The name of the element is derived from the Greek word χρῶμα, chrōma, meaning color, because many of the compounds are intensely colored.”
– “Om is a sacred sound and a spiritual icon in the Hindu religion. Om is part of the iconography found in ancient and medieval era manuscripts, temples, monasteries and spiritual retreats in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. The symbol has a spiritual meaning in all Indian dharmas, but the meaning and connotations of Om vary between the diverse schools within and across the various traditions.”
– The circle refers to the meaning of the sun and the connection between as many elements.
In a few years time Chrom has grown into a very credible quality label ànd successful brand with great artists, many followers & important industry support, and with regular appearances in the Beatport Features & Charts. Chrom also represents and connects people & artists from all over the world by hosting worldwide label showcases: in The Netherlands (Amsterdam Dance Event, Club NL, John Doe) and in Berlin (Burg Schnabel, Polygon), but also already in Belgium, Switzerland, Mexico & Belarus. At our Label Showcases we like to collaborate with a local promotor to build the strongest possible and coherent line up, with integrating some local Chrom artists plus promotor resident artists who fit our style. In theory every artist who released on Chrom is available, of course according to the budget. Next to our own label head Pedro Mercado, we have a very large roster of experienced artists such as Rauschhaus, Modeplex, Aves Volare, Yves Eaux, Wally Lopez, The Note V, Fernando Lagreca, SNYL, Jay Perlestein, Christian Bonori, Karada, Alex Sharp, Paul Sawyer, AMARE, Shemsu, Tash, Aaron Suiss, ,... who also release on respected labels such as Stil Vor Talent, Einmusika, Parquet, Steyoyoke, Bar 25, Katermukke, 3000 Grad, ICONYC, Perspectives Digital, Beatfreak, Krafted,... which are all labels that are very close to our sound.
